Detroit police have released a sketch of a suspect who they said shot a young woman during a robbery last month on the city’s west side.

The man shot a 20-year-old victim around 9:50 p.m. April 17 on the 4000 block of West Warren, near Interstate 94 and West Grand Boulevard, police said. He told the woman to hand over her phone and opened fire as she complied with his order.

The suspect escaped in a nearby gray Toyota Camry with tinted windows, police said. The woman was treated for a non life-threatening injury.

The suspect is described by officials as a black man with a dark complexion and “five-o-clock shadow” facial hair. He was wearing a navy blue baseball cap with an old English “D” on the front, a navy blue T-shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information on the incident is asked to contact Detroit Police Detective James Johnson at (313) 596-1048 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) SPEAK-UP.
