Detroit boy shot by gun found on lawn

Few details are available in a bizarre shooting incident on Detroit’s west side that has 9-year-old boy in the hospital.
Detroit police were notified by a security guard at an undisclosed hospital at 2:40 p.m. Sunday. The caller told the dispatcher a young boy had been admitted to the hospital with a gunshot wound.
Officer Shanelle Williams said the wound was to the chest, but could provide no details on the child’s condition.
According to investigators, the boy found a gun on the lawn of a home in the 17600 block of Faust. The weapon discharged accidentally.
No additional details are available at this time.
