Roseville man arraigned in fatal crash in Detroit
A 31-year-old Roseville man was arraigned Tuesday in 36th District Court in connection with a fatal car crash that killed a 26-year-old Nashville woman.
Johnathon Lloyd Horton has been charged with operating while intoxicated, causing death and manslaughter with a motor vehicle, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
At 2:30 a.m. Monday, Horton allegedly was driving on Chalmers approaching Mayfield Street when Jerrica Hicks’ vehicle was struck.
Hicks and a male passenger in Horton’s car were taken to a hospital. Horton was arrested, the Prosecutor’s Office said.
Police declined to say how fast Horton may have been driving.
Horton returned to jail following the arraignment. He returns to court June 3. His preliminary examination is set for June 9.
Meanwhile, Hicks’ relatives are preparing for a funeral. A GoFundMe page has been created to help with costs.
“She left her memories to her son, mother, grandmother, host of families and friends,” read a post on the site. “Jerrica was extremely loving, caring and HELPFUL!”
