A 40-year-old man, shot in the hip while walking early Sunday morning on Detroit’s west side, chose a most unusual place to seek medical attention: Motor City Casino.

The man was walking in the area of Third Avenue and Peterboro, near Cass Park, at about 3 a.m. Sunday, when he heard a shot and felt pain, said Officer Jennifer Moreno with the Detroit Police Department.

Turns out, the man had been hit by a bullet.

After being shot, the man walked to Motor City Casino and asked people there to call 911. He was in stable condition at last report, Moreno said.

No other information was available Sunday morning.
