Detroit — Police say a driver who is believed to have caused a crash that killed another driver and a man in a wheelchair on a sidewalk is expected to be charged in their deaths.

The 25-year-old woman is in custody after she was identified at a hospital, where she was in serious condition after fleeing the scene of the 1:15 a.m. Sunday incident.

She is expected to be charged with negligent homicide, police said.

The female driver struck another car on the city’s west side sending that car up onto the sidewalk, police said. The collision killed the 51-year-old driver of the second car and the unidentified man in the wheelchair.

A 5-year-old boy in the second vehicle is in stable condition at a hospital.
