An early morning semi-truck rollover on the ramp from westbound Interstate 94 to southbound I-75 caused a HAZMAT spill that will closed the ramp for hours.

A statement from Lt. Mike Shaw said police believe excessive speed caused the single-vehicle crash, which occurred about 4:05 a.m. The materials involved in the crash are “an inorganic, acidic corrosive liquid,” the statement said. Shaw said that while the driver was found at fault, no ticket was written.

The ramp was reopened around 3:15 p.m., according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
