Detroit man found shot dead at west-side home

A 28-year-old man was found dead Wednesday evening when his brother went to check on him in his west-side home, according to Detroit police.

The victim was discovered around 6 p.m. on the 8000 block of Piedmont, near Joy and Evergreen, Officer Dan Donakowski said. The man’s sister noticed his front door open and called her other brother to come investigate.

The man found his brother dead on the living room floor, Donakowski said.

“He hadn’t heard from him in a few days,” Donakowski said. “He went inside and observed him with a fatal gunshot wound.”

Police have no suspects or motive but are investigating the death as a homicide.

“It looks like foul play,” Donakowski said. “I don’t have any indication that there was a weapon recovered at the scene or anything like that.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detroit police at (313) 596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) SPEAK-UP.
