Detroit police are working to identify a man found Monday in a car trunk on the city’s north side.

Investigators were called to Hickory and Fairmount about 10:30 a.m. on a report that the body had been spotted inside a white Buick Century, said Officer Jennifer Moreno, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.

Once there, officers “observed an arm hanging from the trunk,” Moreno said. “When they opened it, they discovered the body of an unidentified black male inside.”

Police noted signs of trauma, Moreno said. They are awaiting a report from the Wayne County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.

Other details were not released Monday night.
