Montez Maxwell, an 18-year-old murder suspect Detroit police described this week as ‘armed and dangerous’ for his alleged role in a fatal shooting early Wednesday morning, turned himself in to authorities Wednesday night at the Detroit Detention Center, police said.

The shooting Maxwell is accused of took place on the 16500 block of Snowden — east of Schaefer and north of Puritan — after what police say is a custody dispute involving children.

At some point in the argument, police say Maxwell pulled out a gun and fatally shot a 26-year-old man. A 27-year-old female suspect has been arrested in the case and remains in police custody.
