WB I-94 at Southfield Fwy. reopened after truck fire
Westbound Interstate 94 at the Southfield Freeway has been reopened to motorists after a garbage hauler caught fire early Tuesday morning, Michigan State Police confirmed.
The freeway was closed at I-94 and M-39 at about 6:50 a.m.
No one was hurt in the fire, and the clean-up effort in the area took hours. The Michigan Department of Transportation had hoped to reopen part of the freeway by 12:30 p.m., but was unable to do so.
But the freeway reopened just before 2:30 p.m., more than 30 minutes before the start of rush hour.
