Two bicyclists were seriously injured Wednesday morning after a car left a west side road, struck them, and landed on a low wall nearby, according to police.

The crash happened around 11:10 a.m. at West McNichols and Parkside.

“A male and a female were in serious condition,” Officer Dan Donakowski said of the crash. The victims were hospitalized after they were hit while riding in a group with other individuals.

Their ages were not immediately available.

After the crash, the car came to rest atop a low landscaping wall on the property, police said. The 30-year-old male driver was taken into custody.

It remained unclear Wednesday afternoon if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash or whether the driver would face charges.
