Two men were shot in broad daylight at a Valero gas station on Detroit’s west side near River Rouge Park, police said Sunday.

The shooting took place at 12:20 p.m. on the Valero gas station on the 20900 block of Joy Road, and involved two minivans.

The first victim, a 31-year-old man, was sitting in the passenger seat of a silver minivan when a red Chrysler Town & Country pulled alongside. Someone from the Chrysler pulled out a gun and started shooting, said Detroit Police Officer Shanelle Williams.

The 31-year-old was hit, and as of last contact with police was in critical condition.

Another man, in his mid-20s, also took a grazing wound. Police aren’t sure whether or not that man was an intended target.

The Town & Country took off in an unknown direction, and there is no description of the suspects, Williams said.
