Detroit police are seeking tips to find the occupants of a vehicle they say fatally struck a 58-year-old pedestrian Monday on the city’s west side.

The man was crossing the street near Schoolcraft and Schaefer at about 6:10 p.m. when a black Chevy Impala or Caprice struck him, investigators said.

“After hitting the victim, a male and female occupant got out of the vehicle, looked at the victim then returned to the vehicle and fled the location,” police said in a statement.

The vehicle was last seen heading south on Lesure then west on Grand River, authorities said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. His name was not released Monday night.
