Detroit police have arrested a suspect in a Tuesday morning shooting that left a 2-year-old girl in critical condition on Detroit’s east side.
Detroit Police Officer Shanelle Williams said the suspect, a 28-year-old man, was taken into custody at 4 p.m. in Highland Park “without incident” by the Detroit Violent Crime Task Force.
The man is in custody at the Detroit Detention Center.
The shooting took place about 1:05 a.m. in the parking lot of the Chandler Park branch of the Detroit Public Library, on the 12800 block of Harper. A gathering was taking place when someone in the crowd started firing shots, hitting the 2-year-old, said Officer Nicole Kirkwood.
