A 21-year-old man was shot and killed on Detroit’s east side early Tuesday morning, and Detroit police say they are still looking for the scene of the crime.

The shooting took place about 1:30 a.m., and police are still trying to figure out exactly what happened and exactly where it happened.

What they do know is that a 21-year-old man was shot, supposedly in the area of Van Dyke and Mack, before people who witnessed the shooting took the man to an area hospital, where was declared dead on arrival, said Officer Nicole Kirkwood of the Detroit Police Department.

But when police arrived at Van Dyke and Mack to investigate, they found no evidence of a shooting, Kirkwood said.

This means that police are searching not only for a suspect of unknown description, but that they’re also looking for the scene of the crime itself.
