Two men in their 20s are in temporary serious condition after being shot late Tuesday night on Detroit’s west side, police say.

When police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Dexter and Waverly just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, the victims already had left.

Turns out the men, ages 24 and 21, were privately taken to an area hospital, according to police. The hospital notified police it was treating two shooting victims.

Police said they arrived at the hospital and soon learned the men who had taken gunshot wounds to the body had been shot at Dexter and Waverly.

The circumstances of the shooting weren’t immediately known, said Officer Dan Donakowski of the Detroit Police Department.
