Mom gets ticket after 4 kids found in hot Detroit home
The mother of four children who were found alone in a “very hot” house in Detroit on Tuesday night has been issued a misdemeanor ticket, police said.
Her children, ranging in age from 9 months to 6 years, have been placed with a maternal relative after they were found in a house in the 20000 block of Faust, Detroit police media relations spokeswoman Nicole Kirkwood said. The mother will be expected to appear before a judge at an unknown date.
Police were called at 7:30 p.m. to the home after a property manager checked on the house, and found the children, Detroit police Sgt. Michael Woody said.
Medics arrived to check on the children and determined they were OK. They were taken to Children’s Hospital of Michigan, where doctors found no injuries except some mild dehydration, Woody said.
Child Protective Services has been called. The mother did not have any prior contact with CPS before Tuesday, Kirkwood said.
