Detroit — Police are investigating the shooting of a 2-year-old girl Sunday inside her home in the 6000 block of Crane on the city's east side, police said.

She was sitting around a table with her family, police said.

Detroit police Sgt. Michael Woody said no one is in custody. Police were alerted after the child was hospitalized, reportedly in temporary serious condition.

"She was sitting at a table with family and they all said they heard gunshots from outside," said Woody. "The girl was wounded in the left buttock."

Woody said adults in the home reported the gunfire came through a wall but said no one saw anything.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at (313) 596-1616.
