A 32-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning on Detroit’s west side after allegedly fatally stabbing his 20-year-old friend in the neck, then hiding in the backyard of the home next door, police said.

The incident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on the 18400 block of Oakfield, east of the Southfield Freeway and south of West Seven Mile. Two men, who police believe lived in the home together, got into an argument. The 32-year-old allegedly pulled a knife, then stabbed the 20-year-old in the neck.

The victim died on the scene, police say, and the suspect fled, leaving an 11-year-old girl to make the 911 call.

Upon arrival, police soon found the suspect hiding in the backyard of the home next door and arrested him.
