Man fatally shot on Detroit’s east side
Detroit police are trying to figure out what happened in a man’s final moments after a fatal shooting on the east side Monday morning.
The man was initially found shot on a porch on the 5700 block of Harding at about 1:30 a.m. Details are spotty as evidence technicians do their work at the home to figure out exactly what happened, said Sgt. Michael Woody of the Detroit Police Department.
The house on Harding is east of Gratiot and south of Interstate 94.
What police do know is that the victim is a 35-year-old man, and he was shot in his stomach and back before being privately conveyed to St. John Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police aren’t yet sure if the shooting took place inside or outside the home, Woody said, and there are not yet any suspect description or witness statements from which to work.
