Detroit police are investigating an overnight drive-by shooting on the city’s east side that left a 16-year-old boy dead.
The incident occurred just after 1 a.m. Friday, when a black sedan drove through the neighborhood near the Casino/Roxbury intersection. The victim was standing on the corner with his brother, police said.
A passenger in the front seat fired a shot that struck the victim “in the body,” according to a police communications official.
His brother immediately drove him to St. John’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The location of the shooting is roughly a block from Carleton Elementary School.
Investigators believe the car contained two people. No more details were immediately available.
