Man fatally stabbed in Detroit domestic dispute
A couple’s fight turned deadly Tuesday night after a woman allegedly stabbed her partner on Detroit’s east side, police said.
Authorities were called to the 5600 block of Casmere at about 9:30 p.m. for a report of a domestic dispute, said Officer Shanelle Williams, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.
A preliminary investigation found that a woman “produced a knife and stabbed the 55-year-old man,” Williams said.
It wasn’t immediately clear what sparked the dispute. Broadcast media reports suggested the pair were married and sparring after a birthday celebration, but police could not confirm that Tuesday night.
“We’re still getting some details in as we speak,” Williams said. “We have to continue the investigation.”
The man was rushed to a hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.
His partner, identified only as a 56-year-old woman, remained in custody late Tuesday.
