Detroit police are seeking tips to find a suspect accused of fatally shooting a man outside a liquor store Thursday night on the city’s west side.

The 41-year-old victim and the suspect “were engaged in some type of altercation” in the parking lot outside the business in the 17700 block of Fenkell at about 7 p.m., said Officer Shanelle Williams, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.

During the fight, he allegedly struck the suspect with a bottle, Williams said. The other man pulled out a handgun and fired at least one shot, striking the 41-year-old man, she said.

The man was rushed to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The suspect ran away with another man, Williams said. They were seen heading north on nearby Archdale.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Detroit Police Department Homicide Unit at (313) 596-2260. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
