Police clear ‘suspicious package’ in Corktown

Detroit police have cleared the scene of a “suspicious package” found Monday afternoon at Michigan Avenue and Trumbull.

Officials were notified of the package around 1:40 p.m. Monday, spokeswoman Jennifer Watson said. The bomb squad was dispatched and responders cleared the scene by 2:20 p.m.

“It was confirmed that the package wasn’t a bomb or anything,” spokeswoman Kenyetta Hebron said.

It remained unclear what type of package was found or who discovered it.
