A 39-year-old man was killed in an alleged drug deal gone wrong in front of his home early Monday morning on Detroit’s west side, police said.

The shooting took place about 12:30 a.m. Monday on the 7200 block of Saint Marys — north of West Warren, west of Greenfield — in front of the victim’s home, said Michael Woody, director of media relations for the Detroit Police Department.

At some point during the alleged drug deal, the victim and the suspect got into an argument, police said. The suspect, whose identity is known to police, allegedly pulled out a gun and began firing, striking the victim.

The man was transported by EMS to an area hospital, but later died from his injuries, Woody said.
