A 25-year-old man was wounded Tuesday evening after a shooting outside a gas station on Detroit’s east side, police said.

Officers were conducting surveillance near the business on Chalmers at about 9 p.m. when they “heard approximately 10 gunshots,” said Officer Dan Donakowski, a spokesman for the Detroit Police Department. The man was struck multiple times.

He was listed in critical condition late Tuesday at a local hospital, Donakowski said. No one else reported injuries at the scene.

It was unclear how many people were involved in the incident. Police are continuing to investigate, Donakowski said.

Anyone with tips or information on the incident is asked to call (313) 596-1616.
