Commuters who rely on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit, beware: The road will be partially closed for six hours on Thursday for disaster training.
The training will affect Jefferson between Griswold and Washington Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is an opportunity for first responders and law enforcement at the local, state and national levels to “improve and enhance our strategic and tactical capabilities in response to a number of emergencies or terrorist incidents that will hopefully never occur,” a Detroit Police Department statement on the training said.
Participants will include Detroit police, fire and EMS, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Homeland Security and the FBI.
