Three people were shot and one died from their injuries after they were ambushed in a car on Detroit’s west side Tuesday night, police said.

The shooting started about 11:25 p.m. on the 19400 block of Montrose, which is west of Greenfield and north of West Seven Mile.

Police say the victims — a 24-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman — were sitting inside a black Chevy Impala when a burgundy Dodge Magnum pulled up.

A man got out of the Magnum, walked up to the Impala and fired multiple shots into the car, before getting back into his own vehicle and fleeing in an unknown direction, according to Kenyetta Hebron, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.

The 24-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body and died on the scene, Hebron said. The 21-year-old woman and the 19-year-old woman were both hit once and are in temporary serious condition at last report, Hebron said.
