A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition after being hit multiple times in a drive-by shooting Sunday afternoon on Detroit’s west side, police said.

The shooting took place about 4:20 p.m. on the 8500 block of Terry, which is south of Joy Road and east of Greenfield.

Police say the 13-year-old and a 14-year-old friend were hanging out in front of a home when an unknown suspect, in a black or dark-colored pickup, started shooting.

The boy was struck multiple times before EMS conveyed him to an area hospital. At last report, he is in critical condition. The 14-year-old boy was not hit, said Officer Jennifer Moreno, a spokeswoman with the Detroit Police Department.

Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call the 2nd precinct at (313) 596-5240.
