Two dead, one injured in west side shooting
Two men were killed and a woman injured Friday in a triple shooting on the city’s west side, Detroit Police said.
Police were called to a white colonial in the 17500 block of Fielding at 5:10 p.m. shortly after responding to a separate call to the home for family trouble.
Authorities said witnesses saw three or four male suspects in dark clothing approaching the house from a vacant lot a few doors down.
Once arriving on the scene, police found the woman injured on the law. She was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One of the male victims was found dead inside the house, the other in the backyard, police said. All victims are believed to be in their 20s.
About 20 minutes prior to the shooting, police were called to the house for family trouble. The victim in that incident told officers he’d been hit in the head with a pipe. The man was uncooperative with police and the officers left.
Police then returned after receiving a call about the shooting. The victim from the initial call was not one of the deceased.
“We’re trying to determine if the incident earlier had anything to do with the shooting,” said Jacqueline Pritchett, a Detroit Police commander from the 8th precinct. “Right now it’s an open investigation. We’re trying to locate the person in the earlier police run to get a statement to see if he might know what happened.”
Friday evening police cruisers blocked the street and yellow caution tape surrounded the home where the shooting unfolded. Detroit officers and a Michigan State Police K-9 unit searched the house and grounds.
None of the suspects were in custody.
