Court hearing set for MSU’s Appling in Detroit gun case
Former MSU basketball player Keith Appling was arraigned Tuesday in Wayne County Circuit Court on one of his two Detroit gun cases.
He is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing Nov. 11 on charges of fleeing and eluding, carrying a concealed weapon, felony firearm and resisting and obstructing a police officer. No trial date has been set.
Appling was arrested Aug. 28 on Detroit's east side. Police say they stopped him but he took off when they tried to get his license. Appling is accused of fleeing police and tossing a bag out of his car. The bag contained his name and also a gun, police said.
Appling has been charged in two other gun cases, one in Detroit in June another in Dearborn before that.
