Detroit homicide detectives are investigating after a 40-year-old man was found fatally shot outside of a park on the city’s southwest side Wednesday night.

It was about 8 p.m. Wednesday when a cyclist riding in the neighborhood saw a man down outside of Piwok Park, on the corner of South Beatrice and Visger, and called police, said Officer Dan Donakowski, a spokesman for the Detroit Police Department.

The caller did not wait for police to arrive, Donakowski said. When they did, they found the victim lying on the ground, fatally shot.
