A 19-year-old Detroit man was charged Friday in the kidnapping of his 3-year-old boy Thursday in an incident which prompted a local Amber Alert.

Michael Lee Grayson was charged with one count each of kidnapping and unlawful driving away of an automobile.

Authorities say Grayson took Marvie Gardner from a home in the 19300 block of Winston, on Detroit’s west side, and drove away with the child in a car. The boy was found unharmed in a car parked outside of an abandoned home in the 19000 block of Biltmore, also on the west side, by Detroit Police.

Grayson was arrested by police on a Detroit Department of Transportation bus at Seven Mile and Ryan on the city’s east side. An investigation by the Detroit Transit Police led officers to Grayson’s whereabouts. He was expected to be arraigned at 2:30 p.m. Friday at 36th District Court in Detroit.
