1 arrest in suspected trafficking operation in Detroit
One person was arrested Thursday in southwest Detroit as part of a probe lead by the FBI that could be tied to a suspected sex trafficking operation.
Police were called to a home in the 3000 block of Electric near Fort, but found different circumstances than what had been reported, said Officer Jennifer Moreno, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.
She said the department is not releasing additional information, but Fox 2 Detroit and WXYZ (Ch. 7) reports indicated several women were rescued from what appeared to be a sex trafficking operation.
One man was arrested at the home, Moreno said, and an investigation was turned over to the FBI.
Tim Wiley, a spokesman for the FBI Detroit Office, confirmed police requested the agency’s help.
“We deployed resources and we had personnel on scene,” he said. “In regard to any pending investigation, we cannot comment.”
