Detroit woman charged in daughter’s abduction
A 33-year-old Detroit woman whose disappearance with her infant daughter triggered an Ambert Alert this week was charged Thursday for the incident.
Marquita J. Dupree was expected to be arraigned at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in 36th District Court for the alleged crime.
Dupree allegedly abducted her child whom she was not allowed to have unsupervised visits with around 2 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities said Dupree arranged to meet with the girl’s foster mother at a doctor’s appointment in a local hospital. Dupree allegedly grabbed the child after the foster mother removed the infant from a car seat, refused to give the child back and fled.
The foster mother called 911 and an Amber Alert was issued. The child was found safe and unharmed later that day and Dupree was taken into custody. Dupree was charged with one count of kidnapping — child enticement.
