Interstate 96 will be closed this weekend in several spots as crews conduct bridge work in the area, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

All closures will last from 9 p.m Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Eastbound lanes of the freeway’s express lanes will be closed from the Southfield Freeway (M-39) to Davison Avenue, officials said. A suggested detour includes taking southbound M-39 to eastbound Interstate 94.

The westbound express lanes will close from Livernois to Wyoming, and motorists are urged to detour along westbound I-94 to northbound M-39.

Local lanes of I-96 also will be affected by the closures.

Eastbound local lanes will close from Schaefer to Davison. Motorists may detour along Schaefer to Grand River to Livernois to I-96.

Meanwhile, westbound local lanes will close from Livernois to Wyoming. The suggested detour runs from Livernois to Grand River to Schaefer to I-96.
