Police: Boy, 16, fatally shot; brother in custody
A 16-year-old Detroit boy is dead and his 18-year-old brother is in police custody after a fatal shooting Wednesday morning on the city’s east side, police said.
The shooting took place about 1:45 a.m. on the 700 block of Tennessee, which is south of East Jefferson and just west of Conner.
The 16-year-old victim was transported to an area hospital, but succumbed to his injuries during surgery. The 18-year-old was arrested and the handgun believed to have been used in the shooting has been recovered, said Officer Nicole Kirkwood, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.
