Suspect sought in Detroit bank robbery
Detroit police are working to find a man accused of robbing a bank Friday on the city’s west side.
The suspect walked into a Fifth Third Bank in the 19100 block of Telegraph at about 3:08 p.m., approached the counter “and handed the teller a note demanding money,” investigators said in a statement.
The worker complied and gave him an undisclosed amount of money, according to the release. The suspect, who was not seen carrying a weapon, then fled on foot north.
Within hours, authorities released surveillance images of the suspect to generate tips. He is described as a white male, 5-foot-5, with a slim build, red beard and freckles. The man was last seen wearing a black skull cap, black Nike sweatshirt, black Puma jogging pants with a white stripe and black shoes.
Anyone who recognizes him or has information is asked to call the Detroit Police Eighth Precinct Investigative Unit at (313) 596-5840. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the DPD Connect app or Crime Stoppers of Michigan at (800) SPEAK-UP.
