GameStop patron shot during robbery
A 28-year-old man had his efforts at last-minute Christmas shopping thwarted when the east side video game shop he was patronizing was robbed in an attack that left him in critical condition, police said.
The incident happened about 7:39 p.m.Saturday at the Game Stop on the 15400 block of Gratiot, just south of East Eight Mile. The shopper was in the store when four suspects — one wearing a blue hat, one wearing a Santa hat, another wearing a red hoodie, and the fourth who may or may not have been wearing a hat — entered, two of them armed with handguns, and started taking games from behind the counter.
But when the victim approached the suspects, one of them pulled out a gun and fired, striking the man.
The four men fled on foot with an “undisclosed” amount of money, police say.
Medics took the victim to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
