Video: 2 sought in destruction of McDonald’s property
Detroit — Two men accused of destroying property at a McDonald’s on the city’s east side on Sunday are being sought by police.
Detroit police said Monday the men are wanted for malicious destruction of property at the restaurant on the 10400 block of Gratiot around 5:30 a.m.
Police say the two men were driving a red four-door Kia when they pulled up to the drive-through window to place an order. During the transaction, the men started arguing with employees, saying they short-changed them. After the employees accommodated them, the men drove away but returned a short time later.
According to police, both men got out of the vehicle. The driver was armed with a knife and the passenger retrieved a yellow steering wheel lock club which he used to shatter the drive-thru window and a large window outside. The other man shattered the glass entrance door.
Police said the men fled afterward. The McDonald’s employees locked themselves in a stock room until the suspects left. No injuries were reported.
The suspected driver is described as being in his 20s, standing 6-feet tall and weighing 140 pounds. He has a light complexion, and slim build.
The passenger is described as being in his 20s, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 190 pounds. He is has a light complexion and medium build. He was wearing a blue bandana on his head.
