A 35-year-old man was left in temporary serious condition after being shot and robbed on the way to his west side Detroit home on Monday night, police said.

The shooting took place about 6:30 p.m. Monday, said Officer Jennifer Moreno, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman. The victim was walking on the 11300 block of Patton, headed home, when an old red Ford Explorer pulled up with two men inside. That block of Patton is south of Plymouth Road and east of Rouge Park.

One of the men got out of the SUV, struck the man, then pulled out a handgun and took the money out of his pocket, Moreno said. Then he shot him.

The description of the suspect is limited in the early hours of the investigation: He is a black male with a dark complexion, is in his mid-30s, and was wearing all gray.
