Detroit police seek help in walk-by shooting
The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s help finding the suspect in a walk-by shooting a week ago on the east side.
In still photos and video released Monday, a man in a black skull cap walks slowly past an establishment on the 17100 block of Conant, giving a close look at the men he passes. A few seconds later, he runs by the other way, and fired shots. The shooting took place about 1:05 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8.
The victim, a 25-year-old man was “struck multiple times,” but survived his injuries, said Sgt. Adam Madera, a Detroit police spokesman. But investigators believe that the man hit, who is not shown in the video, was an “unintended target,” a statement on the shooting said.
Police ask that anyone with information on the suspect’s identity and/or whereabouts share what they know at 313-596-1140. Those who prefer anonymity can call Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 800-SPEAK-UP.
