2 men shot in separate drive-bys on east side
Two young men are recovering after being victim to drive-by shootings in separate incidents Tuesday night on Detroit’s east side, police said.
Police say a 23-year-old black male was walking in the area of Nevada and Rivard at about 8:45 p.m. when a white Chrysler 300 pulled up. Two men were inside the vehicle. Four rounds rang out, and the victim was hit in his left arm, according to police.
He ran home for help as the suspects fled the scene, police said, and was privately conveyed to the hospital. At last report he was in serious condition.
“He’ll be fine,” said Michael Woody, director of media relations for the Detroit Police Department.
Then at 11 p.m., an Arabic man, also 23, was dropping a friend off in the area of Concord and East Ferry. A silver Chrysler pulled up, and someone fired multiple shots at the two men, striking the victim “at least three times” in the right side of his torso, Woody said.
Medics conveyed the man to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition at last report.
