Detroit bus stop shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

Detroit -— Two people were shot while waiting for a city bus Sunday night at Livernois and Warren on the city’s west side, killing one while another victim jumped onto a bus after being shot, according to the Detroit Police Department.

One victim was a 20-year-old male who died on the scene. The other, a 19-year-old male, was in stable condition. The two are car wash employees who were waiting for the bus around 7:30 p.m,. when an unknown male, described as 5 foot 9 inches and weighing about 200 lbs, fired multiple rounds at the two with a handgun. The assailant was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black/orange jacket and blue jeans, according to preliminary police reports.

The 19-year-old victim fled the scene by running south on Livernois and jumped on the approaching DDOT bus. The bus driver called 911, police said.

Police are continuing their investigation.
