Cashier shot in Detroit Family Dollar robbery attempt
A cashier was shot during an attempted robbery Monday evening at a Family Dollar on Detroit’s east side, city police said.
Two armed males wearing hooded sweatshirts entered the business in the 15200 block of East Warren at about 6:45 p.m., pointed guns at a 19-year-old man and demanded his cell phone, said Officer Jennifer Moreno, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.
Once he complied, the suspects walked over to the cashier and demanded money from the register, Moreno said. “The victim attempted to open the register but was unable to. The suspect pointed the gun at the victim’s head and threatened her life. The gun discharged and she was struck in the right side of her neck.”
The suspects fled on foot without money, police said. Medics rushed the 29-year-old cashier to the hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are seeking the suspects.
