Cops: Thieves steal files from assisted-living facility
The Detroit Police Department is asking for the public’s help finding two men caught on tape early Saturday morning who police say broke into the manager’s office of an assisted-living facility and stole files containing personal information of the people who lived there.
It was about 3:45 a.m. when two men wearing black hoodies who police say were filmed in the midst of the break-in at the assisted-living facility on the 5800 block of Emerald Springs Circle, west of Mound Road and south of East McNichols, on Detroit's east side.
The men are seen rifling through file cabinets, and one is seen prying open a door. They’d gained entry to the Detroit Housing Commission-owned facility by way of a window, police say. After tossing the files into bins, police say the men loaded those bins into a white SUV and escaped.
Police are asking that anyone with information on the men’s identities to call 313-596-1140. Tipsters who prefer anonymity can call Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 800-SPEAK-UP or contact Detroit police via the DPDConnect app.
