Suspect breaks into Detroit vegan eatery, grabs safe

The Detroit News

He didn’t appear to want meatless soul food, Detroit police said of a man who is accused of breaking into a vegan restaurant.

He wasn’t interested in eating at all, police established. Investigators released surveillance video Monday of the Jan. 16 incident reported at the Detroit Vegan Soul eatery in the 8000 block of Agnes. At about 7:15 p.m., the suspect forced his way through the front entrance, “breached another door, then took the black metal file safe from inside,” authorities said in a statement.

He also swiped a small silver tablet before fleeing on foot, according to the release.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the video, knows his whereabouts or has information is asked to call the Detroit police 7th Precinct Detective Unit at (313) 596-5740 or Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
