Man, 21, fatally shot in home invasion

A woman who heard people trying to break into her home on Detroit’s west side cowered inside a closet and called 911. By the time police arrive, the intruders had broken in, fatally shot a 21-year-man in the house, and left, police said Sunday.
The break-in began early Sunday on the 15800 block of Chatham, south of West McNichols and east of the Southfield Freeway.
It was about 4:10 a.m. when the woman heard the noises. when police and medics arrived, they found the victim dead in a hallway with multiple gunshot wounds.
Homicide detectives are investigating.
