Gunfire wounds 74-year-old woman in east Detroit

Detroit police are investigating a shooting that wounded a 74-year-old woman Thursday evening on the city’s east side.
The victim was inside her home in the 10700 block of Beaconsfield at about 4 p.m. when someone fired shots through the front door and a window, investigators said in a statement.
One of the bullets struck the woman, whom medics rushed to a nearby hospital. She was listed in serious condition Thursday night, authorities said.
No other injuries were reported. Other details, including a description of the alleged shooter, were not available.
