A 26-year-old man was awakened from his slumber Sunday morning by gunshots to his groin and right leg, then refused to tell responding Detroit police officers anything about the incident.

The incident took place about 3 a.m., and the scene of the shooting remains unknown to police hours later. Police say they only found the man after he was privately conveyed to Detroit Receiving Hospital. There, he told police he’d been sleeping when shot, but refused to say anything more.

The man was in stable condition.

The incident is under investigation.
